Shipley ~ South Huish marsh & South Brent

A morning visit to Shipley before the weather broke ~ male Blackcaps and Willow Warbler showing well and singing away. Swallow, Swift, Wren, Jay, pair of song Thrush one with a beak full of food, Mistle Thrush showing well, Grey Wagtail, Coal Tit, Lesser Black Backed Gull and a pair of Mallard overhead, male Stonechat, Meadow Pipit, Chiffchaff and two Goldfinch.  A lunchtime visit to South Huish Marsh was rewarded with good if distant views of three full summer plumage Grey Plover and three Dunlin, which all took to flight along with a Snipe when a Buzzard came in low over the marsh. Two Heron, Little Egret, drake Wigeon, Lesser Black Backed Gull,Moorhen, Coot, House Martin, Swallow, Swift and Sky Larks over the area, Pied Wagtails, out to sea a red/orange billed Tern sp but too far out to be specific re ID. On the lanes in and out of the location Whitethroat and Yellow Hammer. Back home at South Brent ~ Siskin and Reed Buntings (1F ~ 2M) on the garden feeders, a pair of Mistle Thrush again driving off Sparrow Hawk, Jackdaw and Magpie. Five Greater Black Backed Gulls overhead, (three adult two Juvenile) 39 Herring Gull in one flock mobbing two Buzzards. Raven, House Martin , Swallow and Swift, Mallard, GSWP and a late evening fly past from two Canadian Geese.
