Fernworthy Reservoir

My first visit to Fernworthy Reservoir, an enjoyable circumnavigation finishing at the hides. Species of note were a Kestrel (see photo) perched at the top of a large conifer on the northern side of the reservoir in perfect light. At the higher of the two hides, solitary Mallard (m), Great Crested and Little Grebes the GCG seen (and photographed at distance) catching a large fish.  From the lower hide a small group of 5 Tufted Ducks (no photos my battery ran out).  On the walk back to the car park a pair of Goldfinches. This is a lovely site and the lower hide is in a great location so will definitely be visiting again soon. Kestrel Great Crested Grebe
