An excellent afternoon around the marsh watched from 13:15 till 17:45
The juv osprey which has been around for a few days was first picked up of the viewing platform at 14:20 flying towards turf it then reappeared over the trees of rivers meet house then flew about 8ft above my head over the viewing platform then proceeded to fish the river clyst and exe estuary but was unsuccessfull it later flew over the marsh in front of the hide and headed up the river clyst, also an adult Mediterranean gull here.
Around the marsh mostly from the hide, the spoonbill showed well at times, 1 juv wood sandpiper, 1 juv male ruff , 2 spotted redshanks, 3 juv curlew sandpipers , 1 little stint, 2+ knot, 8+ ringed plovers, 1 common sandpiper, 13+ greenshanks , 300+ redshank, 4+ whimbrel, 200+ curlew, 6+ bar tailed godwits, 600+ black tailed godwits, 12+ lapwing, 70+ dunlin, 1 Pintail, 12+ wigeon, among teal, mallard and shoveler.
21+ little egrets, 3+ grey heron, 12+ moorhen, sparrowhawk, 2 buzzards, nuthatch, green woodpecker, great spotted woodpecker, good numbers of chiffchaffs, 3 blackcaps, 1 willow warbler, with all the other resident birds an excellent afternoon with 60+ species.
on the way home a nice kingfisher along the exe river near Exeter st Davids station.
