A great cruise this afternoon, with spectacular concentrations of waders, gulls and Brent Geese on the mudflats between Lympstone and Topsham. Highlights were 2 Slavonian Grebes near Cockwood, Great Northern Diver, 50+ Shags, the regular Spotted Redshank at Powderham plus a second at Topsham, about 500 Avocets, 1000 Black- and 100+ Bar-tailed Godwits, 300+ Golden Plover, about 500 Lapwings, 3 Goldeneye (Topsham).
Almost the final bird was the semi-resident Bonaparte's Gull feeding in mid-river between Exmouth and Cockwood.
